Prototype: Opera/Theatre/Now

Jointly produced by Beth Morrison Projects and HERE, this new, wildly ambitious opera festival aims to showcase fresh works—some in ready-to-travel full productions, others in workshop previews—by established and emerging creators. The series starts with the world premiere of Sumeida's Song by Mohammed Fairouz (HERE; Jan 9–11, 13–15); further highlights include the New York premiere of David T. Little's Soldier Songs (Schimmel Center; Jan 11–13, 16–18) and the North American premiere of Bluebeard, a video opera by Dutch group 33 1/3 Collective.
