Time Out says

Locations, times and prices vary; call 212-941-9208 or visit locatingthesacred.org for information. Uncover the sublime in our everyday existence, as visual artists, poets, musicians and spiritual leaders find transcendent interactions in the city. This project, organized by the Asian American Arts Alliance, presents about 25 mostly free performances and discussions throughout the five boroughs that explore devotional music, art and ideas. Sufi ensemble Riyaaz Qawwali and experimental composer and musician Bora Yoon collaborate for the opening-night concert at the Church of the Ascension. Highlights include a performance by Muslim, Jewish and Hindu female vocalists, followed by a discussion of their musical traditions; artist Chang-Jin Lee’s giant clear plastic Buddha sculpture, Floating Echo, which will bob on the East River; and an online map where you can nominate your favorite sacred spot in the city. Share a family recipe at the Feed Me a Story food truck at Hester Street Fair, and you’ll get a free sweet in return. The festival will conclude with a flash mob in Washington Square Park.—Vanessa Thill
