At a glance, My Beauty Cottage looks very much like an English tea house. In reality, they're an all-organic professional beauty house specialising in facial and body treatments using Eminence products from Hungary. This beauty house also known for their 'hands-on' exotic Hungarian massage techniques without the use of any electrotherapy machines.
They may be the new kid on the block in Penang amid the many spas and beauty houses that offer facials and massages, but they have one thing the others do not – a range of certified organic and award-winning product from Hungary called Eminence. Services wise, they offer facials including a quick 40-minute Tea Break Facial, massages, eye and lip treatments, manicure and pedicure, and even hair removal done with an organic hair removal product Sugar Pro.
Facials alone, there are around five VitaSkin facials with their special booster included at RM388 and another five normal facials for different skin conditions from RM288. There are two facials suitable for both men and women including their signature Stone Crop Restoring treatment with the cactus-like plant stone crop that has aloe vera sort of goodness as the main ingredient.

However, we picked their Firm Skin Facial treatment from the VitaSkin range with acai berries as its main ingredient. It promises to minimise wrinkles and promotes collagen production, among others. Our verdict? Both products use in their 7-step treatment and the able hands of their therapist were sublime.
Firstly, the facial begins with a foot bath before a heady head and neck massage. Then cleansing of the facial skin begins, followed by toning and exfoliation with products that smell good enough to eat. A short but effective massage of the head, neck, shoulders administered by firm, trained hands and back led to a 10-minute masque treatment that contains their specially developed booster.
Finally, a serum and moisturiser follows. By the time we were done, we not only smelt deliciously of summer berries smoothie but skin as soft as a baby’s. Hours after, the skin still felt fresh, firm and rejuvenated. Although, be reminded that long term results can only be achieved with a regular facial schedule of around every 28 days for normal skin with no harrowing dermatology conditions.
Eminence products may cost a little more but they are organic and very concentrated. For instance, a jar of 60ml moisturiser may well last you more than four months since you’d only need a dot or two on the face for daily hydration. Exploiting the benefits of plants and fruits, there are no chemicals nor artificial colour or fragrances in all their products. Yes, definitely good enough to eat! Su Aziz
