If you think the Penang Bridge International Marathon is the biggest run of the year, meet the Penang Ultra 100K happening on Sep 6. As its name suggests, the marathon will lead participants to a 100KM route around the island where they'll pass several popular landmarks and heritage sites in Penang. The marathon comprises of three categories of 50KM Ultra Marathon, 84KM Round Island and 100KM challenge.
The 50KM Ultra Marathon (8.5 hours) begins from Balik Pulau to Esplanade. The 84KM Round Island (15 hours) and 100KM challenge (18 hours) marathon starts off from Esplanade and make its way pass the George Town's UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Penang Bridge, the Second Penang Bridge, Balik Pulau and down through Teluk Bahang to the Esplanade pit stop. The 100KM will include a 5KM ascend to Penang Hill before descending to Esplanade. Sign up with early bird rates before Apr 1, 2014.
