1881 Chong Tian Hotel

Billing itself as a ‘cultural hotel’, this hotel is housed in a 130-year-old building. Back in the 1800s, it maintained a thriving business as a hotel as well, catering to prominent merchants who came to Penang to trade. These days, the hotel takes its inspiration from the olden days by combining wealth and class in the form of antiques borrowed from the owners’ private collections. True to its heritage, the hotel also houses a historical museum that stores antiques from the Tang, Ming and Qing Dynasty.
