This locally owned roast chicken eatery has branches from Butterworth to Alor Setar. This one is located on the lower ground floor of Sunway Carnival Mall in Seberang Jaya. What they serve is roast chicken that’s marinated with either black pepper, delicately spicy perchik sauce or plain and simple prime roast.

Here, either a quarter, half or full portion of chicken is served with either wedges or flavoured rice. A set of a quarter chicken comes with a drink starts at RM13.90+ and you can add an extra side order of either Japanese tofu that’s mushy on the inside and thinly crispy on the outside, mixed vegetables, French beans or chicken ball soup, for a small fee of between RM4 and RM6.

Their roast consists of firm but moist meat and their perchik is especially tasty with the flavoured rice and Japanese tofu. Save the coupling of wedges with the plain prime roast and even the black pepper is better with the flavoured rice. The set also includes a small bowl of soup that’s both tasty and comforting.

Although there’s a condiment of chilli-garlic sauce, I’d suggest you do without to really enjoy the mix of flavours exuding from the dishes without intrusion. Basically, Rasamas offers rather Malaysian-proned flavours of robust and lively spices but toned down to suit a mass market which is actually tasty and of good quality at a reasonable price.
