This deli is an extension of Sam's Groceria at Gurney Paragon Mall. The rows and rows of ready-to-go hot food on display will attract anyone with a healthy appetite. There are at least three types of lasagne, same goes for pasta sauces along with pasta choices, fried noodles, steamed rice paired with curry, stir-fried beef and vegetables, wedges, curly spicy fries, fried fish fillet coated with batter, chicken nuggets, hash browns, roast chicken and even slabs of roast beef.
The refrigerated section holds neatly packed sushi and California rolls. While the bakery corner offers a selection of buns with various savoury fillings or sweetened. By the cashier you’ll find snack food such as chubby curry puffs, pies, fried food such as skewered fish balls and wantans, egg tarts and donuts.
We choose the beef lasagne for RM9.99 and a bag of wedges at RM2.99 for 100gm from the hot food section. The food’s served lukewarm and the 1.5-inch thick lasagna is all right as flavour goes with a nice crusty, melted cheese topping and the wedges are mildly crispy. Their flavours are reminiscent of cafeteria food – quick and predictable but not bad at all – and this is further punctuated by their pay as you order service style.

For dessert, we opt for the egg tart and chocolate sprinkled donuts. Both are fresh enough in terms of flavour and affordable prices at a little more than RM3 for both. Basically, they’re fine as quick meals or in-between snack with high stools and a bar lining two parts of their internal walls so you can perch and eat while watching shoppers go by.
The interior is made warm by black, red and white murals of food and menu-mimicking words. If only its interior’s warmth extends to the cashier service that’s the delivery point of your order, it can be quite a pleasant place to take a load off in the middle of a shopping day at the mall. Su Aziz
