This month's Penang Story Lectures will share new found knowledge on the Muslim Trade from the Coromandal Coast in relation to Kedah and Penang. Back in the 17th century, the Coromandal Muslims (also known as the Cholia) were favourites of the ruling house and were nominated as harbour masters and royal merchants during their time in the ports of Kedah. Speaker of the day is author of 'Maritime History of Commandal Muslim' from Tamil Nadu, Dr. J. Raja Mohamad. The talk on June 9 will be conducted entirely in Tamil. If you prefer to listen to the talk in English, join their English session on June 10.
