It's a telling fact that even when the entire country was under lockdown, exceptions were made for physical exercise – we just weren't made to sit still. And, blessed with beaches, nature reserves and sporting facilities, Perth is an outdoorsy city if ever there was one. From swimming with dolphins to walks with amazing views, here are ten great ways to keep active in Perth.

  • Attractions
  • Parks and gardens
  • Perth Central

This urban oasis is one of the world's largest inner city parks and also has some of the best views in Perth. Within it you'll find the Fraser Avenue Precinct (a century-old walk lined with red-flowering gums), more than 250 hectares of protected bushland, the State War Memorial, beautiful outdoor events spaces and playgrounds galore.

  • Sport and fitness
  • Walks

By any measure the Swan River is a beautiful setting for a city and one way to experience it is via this energetic six-kilometre walk. Stop in East Perth for a coffee in one of the many cafés. You're looking at a three-hour walk, or one hour by bike.

Take a two-hour paddle stretching from Mosman Park to Fremantle past stunning cliff faces, secluded beaches and some of the city’s most impressive houses. Get out on the water and head downwind on the Swan on your own SUP board from Point Walter in the western suburbs around to John Tonkin Park in East Fremantle.
