Kiara Cakes

Kiara Cakes

Tucked away in the heart of Mont Kiara, Kiara Cakes is a quaint café that offers different varieties of artisanal cakes, pastries, light bites, mains and beverages. Adorned with rustic and minimalist elements, the space is painted navy blue and white to distinguish themselves from other pastel and monochromatic cafés you’ve seen. The “Kiara Cakes” neon light sign hung on one of the walls becomes the statement piece as you enter the space. The café can accommodate up to 45 pax. A counter filled with freshly baked pastries greets you at the entrance. You will find pastries such as Croissant Bread Pudding, Orange Financier, Madeleine, Buttercake with Butterfly Pea Flower Buttercrumb, Salted Egg Yolk Croissant and more. When you visit Kiara cakes, the homemade cakes are a must-try. The Duck Egg Burnt Cheesecake has a creamy texture with a hint of caramel sweetness and of course, a generous dollop of whipped cream on the side. One of the favourites is the Lavender Chocolate Cake with Earl Grey Buttercream that appeals to both look and taste. The subtle flavour of lavender in the chocolate cake complements the delicate taste of earl grey in the frosting. There are also cakes like the Tropézienne Vanilla Cake, Strawberry Lychee Rose Cloud Cake, a gluten-free as well as dairy-free Flourless Orange Almond Cake and more. Since the cakes are homemade, something to note is that the cake menu changes according to its availability. The café also has a selection of main dishes for a more f

Carlsberg Red Barley Back for The Reds!

Carlsberg Red Barley Back for The Reds!

One of the top leading brewery groups in the world, Carlsberg Malaysia brings back the special edition Carlsberg Red Barley for the second time this year to pay tribute to Liverpool FC. The inspiration came from Bill Shankly, the legendary Liverpool FC manager, when he decided to dress all his players in red back in 1964. Crimson red is the main colour theme for this edition, so that includes the bottle, label, cap and even the beer. Carlsberg Red Barley gets its distinctive colour from a barley variety that is specially curated and bred by the scientists at the Carlsberg Research Laboratory. The taste? Clean, crisp and slightly hoppy! Due to the barley’s rarity, Carlsberg only produced the Red Barley in a small quantity of 2,500 bottles globally. From Sept 14 until 28, purchase 3 big bottles of Carlsberg Danish Pilsner or Carlsberg Smooth Draught to stand a chance to win a game card plus the special-edition Carlsberg Red Barley at Probably The Best Football Viewing Parties. Five things to do now that it's haze season

Five things to do now that it's haze season

It’s that time of year again when KL looks like the backdrop of an apocalyptic film. As much as we hate that it’s becoming an annual thing, there isn’t much to do except to get hydrated, stay indoors and breathe as little outside air as possible. The Air Pollutant Index (API) readings around the city have exceeded 150 – a reading classified as 'unhealthy' – together with other places around Selangor such as Klang (213), Batu Muda (154) and Cheras (146). Even schools in Selangor, Pahang and Kuching have been ordered to close today. As for us adults, while the haze is still not bad enough to close offices, try to stay in as much as you can if you can’t take the smoke in your eyes. Here at Time Out KL, we make the most of the city, so here are some things you can do to make the most out of this hazy situation. 1. Catch up on TV shows – we’ve chosen 10 of our favourite box sets, so it’s time to binge-watch. If you want to reminisce about the good old days instead, watch these old local TV shows or films. 2. Put on your N95 face mask, bring eye-drops, and water bottle everywhere you go. These are your best friends during this hazy season.3. Increase your water intake. On top of drinking more water than usual, you can also try these cold-pressed juices. Stay off caffeinated and alcoholic drinks as it will cause more dehydration. 4. Practise your rain dance moves to Billy Joel's 'We Didn’t Start the Fire', Franz Ferdinand’s 'This Fire' and Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Have You Ev
