Celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival with your children at these fun events.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is traditionally celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Lunar calendar. This year it falls on Friday, September 13. Traditionally celebrated with the gathering of family over a meal and indulging in delectable mooncake. There is also the lantern parade where children of all ages get to show off their lanterns and have a short walkabout. This year there are a number of malls hosting lantern parades and we’ve shortlisted some for you.
Bangsar Village is hosting the Mid-Autumn festivities a day after the actual festival on September 14. Nevertheless, the highlights of the day will be the mooncake buffet and lanterns will be giving out to kids aged 12 and below. You can pre-register your kids for the Lantern Parade at the Bangsar Village information counter. The fee is RM15 and the profits will be given to the Bangsar Village Kids for Kid’s Charity.
On September 7 and 8, there is a Mid-Autumn celebration at 1 Mont Kiara from 12pm to 7pm. The two-day event sees a line-up of fun-filled activities such as Mooncake Eating contest, LED Lion Dance Performance, Ballet Performance by Asia Ballet Academy, Lantern Making Contest and more. Also, not forgetting the most sought-after activity in any of Mid-Autumn Festivals, is the Lantern Parade with Chinese Deities.
Held at the Central Piazza, KL Gateway Mall will be hosting the Mid-Autumn Festival event on September 7 from 6pm onwards. The festival sees a lantern parade Riddle, traditional game zone, charity event and special performances. There will be snack stalls to fuel you up throughout the event.
On September 8, there will be a lantern DIY workshop for kids aged 12 and below at The Mines in conjunction with Mid-Autumn Festival from 4pm-6pm. They will have the chance to show off their works of art during the Lantern Parade at 7pm. The Mines members can redeem this workshop admission through CapitaStar App.
BMC Mall will organise a lantern parade on September 7 from 7pm - 8.30pm. Come and be part of the lively activity along with family. Simply register your kids by filling up the form here and the first 50 people to register will receive a LED lantern. So, flash those vivid-coloured lanterns as you parade with your kids around the mall. Admission is free.
