Set in 1967 Wolverhampton, this British TV film by director S J Clarkson was adapted from cookery writer Nigel Slater's autobiography. The story starts from the beginning, when young Nigel Slater (Oscar Kennedy) lost his mother and had to get used to his dad living with his new love interest – the just-divorced Mrs Potter (Helena Bonham Carter). His grown-up version, played by Freddie Highmore, finds comfort in home economics classes and dabbles in a relationship with another male. Part of the 5th Love & Pride Film Festival, this NC16 dramatic comedy is screened in English.
