It's a beautiful day for all you U2 fans. The Irish rock legends are set to perform their very first Singapore headline show on November 30 at the National Stadium as part of The Joshua Tree Tour. The tour kicks off in Auckland, New Zealand on November 8 before making its way to Australia, Japan and Singapore, wrapping up in Seoul, South Korea on December 8.
Fronted by a reflective Bono and backed by guitar hero the Edge, bassist Adam Clayton and drummer Larry Mullen Jr, U2 are reincarnating their fifth studio album, Joshua Tree, in full. The 1987 landmark album became a massive hit that brought them to the world's attention. It also solidifies their rock god-like statuses with sky-rocketing singles such as With or Without You, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, and Where the Streets Have No Name. The Joshua Tree Tour originally kicked off in 2017, touring across Europe and North and South America, celebrating the album's 30th anniversary.
“Our audience has given the Joshua Tree a whole new life on this tour. Doing these shows has been very special for us, a lot of emotion. From the despair of how relevant some of the dark songs still are, to the joy, pure fun of the staging, it’s quite a ride. And now we get to do it all over again. Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore, Seoul, we’re coming for you," says Bono in a statement.
Besides a setlist filled with tracks from The Joshua Tree album, U2 are also performing other explosive hits from their discography. No strangers to playing stadium-filled shows, the stage set for each concert features a specially commissioned series of films from Dutch triple threat – photographer, filmmaker and U2 collaborator – Anton Corbijn. His photos are also featured in the original album.
