Written by British playwright Keith Waterhouse and based on the life of journalist Jeffrey Bernard, the story takes place at the protagonist's favourite haunt – a pub called The Coach and Horses in London's Soho – when he was accidentally locked inside overnight. As he fondly recounts anecdotes from his decadent life of womanising, alcohol and gambling, he is joined onstage by his ex-wives, mistresses, boozers, jockeys and other colourful characters.
