First performed on the streets of Paris in 1896, playwright Alfred Jarry’s Ubu Roi set in motion the Absurdist and Surrealist movements in theatre. Amidst all the buffoonery in this comic satire is a serious social commentary on the corrupting effects of power on mankind. This caustic and offbeat humour compelled director Aole T. Miller to bring this bilingual comedy of twelve actors from eight different countries on a quest to demonstrate that humour translates to all cultures.
This play will be performed in both French and English on alternate days.
