Unearthing memories is gold – particularly when they’re chronicled and preserved for all to see. For the first time, handwritten letters by Sir Stamford Raffles join over 100 rare artefacts from the 18th century in a major exhibition at the National Library. Also expect a series of maps, photographs and documents tracing Singapore’s history, including its time under the Japanese Occupation (Syonan-To, anyone?). For something lighter, admire an ornate Qur’an printed in Kampong Glam in 1869, and famed Singaporean author Ellice Handy’s My Favourite Recipes (1952).
