An ancient temple built by King Kavantissa, it attracts numerous pilgrims. With a historical stupa on the coast, this area is renowned for the legendary accounts of Princess Viharamaha Devi, to whom the temple is dedicated. The temple provides picturesque views of the sand dunes, the Kirinda fishing harbour and the Indian Ocean.
