Time Out says

Each building in Galle Fort is a reminder of the Dutch colonial heritage and the romantic bit of Southern Ceylon. Barista too occupies a typically grand Dutch house: stout walled, sturdy, yellow, with high, tiled, sloping ceilings. It is a perfect place for a coffeeholic to indulge in a bit of decadence while looking out onto the narrow cobbled lanes, which have not changed since the 17th century.

Sitting in the deep and shaded verandahs with your feet on the cool floors, you can sip a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. In the balmy weather with briny winds, which is normal, one of the Barista coffee shakes would be divine. You can also avail yourself of their refreshing fruit juices or wholesome smoothies.

They offer you a scrumptious selection of burgers, paninis, sandwiches and wraps. With rich stuffing, both vegetarian as well as meaty, they are filling. There is also a mixture of exotic treats such as a golden, crusty Chicken and Mushroom Pie, Teriyaki Meatballs Rice, Penne Arrabiata and Tomato Soup with Pesto.

Their desserts are delectable and addictive. The English Apple Pie, French croissant and Pain au chocolat, Blueberry Danish, walnut brownie and Chocolate fudge are tasty treats. Next time you walk under the Dutch coat of arms and wander through the cobbled streets, remember to drop in here for a Barista experience.
