Located at the heart of the Duplication Road in Bambalapitiya, Fabric Gallery is a paradise for fabrics. The five story building is renowned for its vast fabric collection and this building incorporates both fashion as well as fabric items. The ground floor displays a vast variety of fabrics, imported from countries such as Korea and Indonesia. They have a plethora of material varieties from silk to cotton, georgette and linen. Printed and striped patterns of fabric with subtle and striking bold colours are also available.
Shoppers will be spellbound by the materials on display at Fabric Gallery, which includes brocade, raw silk and satin, and also a variety of colours to choose from. Alongside the array of materials was a display of ready-made shalwar tops embellished with fancy stones as well as sequins. The one-piece unique designs of shalwar tops were available in chiffon and cotton materials. The floor also has a separate section featuring a variety of embroidered lace, beaded lace and plain lace that come in a variety of soft colours such as pearl white, light pink and white.
On the second floor, one is greeted by large antique mirrors in the shape of the sun. Also displayed were mirrors of contemporary design, delicately studded with fashion stones. The floor also showcases accessories, handbags, shoes and cosmetics. From modern to traditional jewellery, the separate sections have been designed to cater to the various needs of the customers. Cosmetic products such as ‘Maybelline’, ‘Bath and Body Works’, ‘L’Oreal’ and ‘Tresemme’ were also displayed here.
The fourth floor caters to ethnic wear which includes bridal lehengas and sarees. From Kanchepuram Silk to Handloom and Jute, Fabric Gallery has a beautiful collection. The neatly displayed lehengas start from 30,000 Rupees upwards. They also have a graceful bridal section with aesthetic designs and colours.
