Time Out says

‘OUR TOWN’ is Thornton Wilder’s remarkable Pulitzer Prize winning play which is renowned for being the only play that is performed every single day of the year in some part of the World.

With a cast of only 21 actors and minimal set of two tables and a few chairs, the Lionel Wendt will transform into the charming town of Grover’s Corners on the 22nd and 23rd of September.

“Wilder wants nothing to stand in the way of the play in its path to the audience. He really wants you to see the importance of the ordinary. There are no trappings; all visual distractions have been stripped away. There is only the play, only the words, only the characters. And we’ve left it just as it is and just as he would have wanted it to be. This is in fact a re-staging of Cue theatre’s original performance of ‘OUR TOWN’ which was held in 2015. The plot is simple: For the citizens of Grover’s Corners, life is sweet. The doctor makes house calls, the teenage boy delivers the paper and the boy-next-door meets the girl-next-door” explains director Ranga Jayaratne.

Set in an all-American small town at the turn of the century, this 80th anniversary production of Thornton Wilder’s heartwarming and deeply moving play is a reminder to appreciate life and to relish every moment – no matter how mundane it seems – for it is those small moments that are truly miraculous.
