Birds Research Center and Resort

The Hambantota Bird Research Centre and Resort is a place meant for more than just bird spotting. The research centre strives to create the perfect atmosphere for researchers and analysts.The centre houses almost 200 species, divided into several sections and spread across nearly 50 acres of land. Flightless, aquatic and many rare and exotic birds are housed and bred here while a separate plot of land is used to cultivate the necessary food for the birds. Exotic foreign birds are acquired by exchanging species with other reserves across the globe.
