Swirls, twirls and acrobatic swings... Cirque Lanka is a theatrical project, which combines traditional Sri Lankan drums and dances with European circus. Live music, drummers, traditional masks, acrobats, aerial acrobatics and fire effects, is featured during the hour long programme.
The idea of the ‘new circus’ where acrobatics is fused with the theatrics of drama is a novel notion in Sri Lanka. For the performers, their art is a philosophy that brings together people of all ages, backgrounds, religions, opinions and cultures. It is a collaboration that seeks to connect. Similar performances have been held in North and South America, Africa, Asia and Europe.
