The village of Indigolla in Gampaha will be busy this month in the run-up to the grand feast of the Shrine of Saint Jude. Catholics from across the Island will congregate at the hallowed grounds. The saint is regarded for being a great worker of miracles in healing the sick through God. The feast is a moment to express gratitude and demonstrate devotion.
Once the church flag is hoisted on October 20, evening novenas will be held till the vespers service on October 29. High mass will be celebrated on October 30. Indigolla transforms in to a village of celebration. The roads leading to the church will be lined with sweetmeat and pickle sellers, treats devotees take home along with blessings.
