The Urban Development Authority, working with the Ministry of Defense, created the TRACE Expert City in Maradana. The ‘city’ is made up of a group of successful businesses and experts who aspire to transform Sri Lanka into a major business hub by promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and professionalism through technology.
The objective of the TRACE project is to create an ecosystem that supports science, technology and innovation to lead the country towards a knowledge-based society that supports the country’s long term economic, social and environmental growth and development while also enhancing existing opportunities for research and development. The initiative also allows new partnerships among tech-oriented companies, academic partners and other institutions to engage in commercially feasible ventures.
