Things to do in Stockholm this month – July 2026

Stockholm’s own pop genius Robyn is taking over the city in July 2026 – and that’s just one of many reasons to love this month

Advertising

July is the holiday month and Stockholm slows down. Or does it? This year, July is packed with reasons to stay in the city – or head there.

The big talking point of the month is Robyn, who is doing a ‘residency’ and quite literally taking over Stockholm – with three concert nights in a row at Avicii Arena. If Robyn wasn’t already this country’s official pop queen, she certainly will be by the time the final note rings out at Avicii Arena on July 18.

What else? The world’s biggest sporting event, the FIFA World Cup final, is a must-watch on the big screen, there’s Thai street food to feast on and Bad Bunny takes over Avicii Arena for two nights. Christopher Nolan’s summer blockbuster The Odyssey also hits cinemas, before the month rounds off with colour and celebrations as Stockholm Pride gets underway.

We’ve rounded up 31 tips for July, one for every day. Have a great summer, Stockholm.

Since Sweden’s men delivered a surprisingly strong performance in last year’s EuroBasket, interest in the national team has surged. In fact, recent home games have sold out. Now they face the Czech Republic in a crucial match to keep their Basketball World Cup dreams alive. Expect a full house.

Tickets from 245 SEK.

4.7 Tuck into pad krapow moo at Thai Bågen, Stockholm’s new street food market

This brand-new market in Fatbursparken on Södermalm only opened in June and is open every day until September. Grab a seat on one of the benches with a steaming bowl of khao soi noodle soup or a sweet sticky mango rice. Close your eyes for a moment and let the aromas of lemongrass and freshly fried beef take over, and you can almost, well, almost forget you’re in the middle of Stockholm rather than on Bangkok’s bustling Banthat Thong Road.

Fatbursparken. The market is open from 11.00 to 19.00 on weekdays and Sundays, and until 21.00 on Fridays and Saturdays. You'll find the widest selection and the most traders at the weekend.

5.7. Design your own luxury ice cream at Stureplan

Still haven't created your own Magnum ice cream? Then it's time to head to Stureplan. This Sunday is the very last chance to visit Magnum's hugely popular pop-up store. The concept is every bit as sugar-filled as it is Instagram-friendly. The Magnum Pleasure Store is at Stureplan 19, on the corner of Kungsgatan. A custom-made ice cream costs around SEK 60.

6.7 Take the boat straight to Fotografiska

A visit to Fotografiska for its world-class photography exhibitions is always a good idea. New for this summer, you can skip the long walk from Slussen and make the journey part of the experience by arriving by boat instead. The vessel is fully electric and departs every 45 minutes from 11.00 to 18.00 from Nybrokajen, right by Berzelii Park, with an additional stop at the Royal Palace along the way.

A return boat ticket and entry to Fotografiska cost SEK 290. Children under 12 travel free.

Love, art and jealousy, with fleeting moments of happiness. That’s how Anton Chekhov’s classic The Seagull is described, now being performed outdoors at Slipvillan on Långholmen. 13.7. See Andy Warhol and spice your own snaps at Spritmuseum

Mondays on Djurgården move at a slower pace, but they also serve up Swedish drinks history and pop art. Spritmuseum is currently showing its new exhibition Absolut Absolut, which tells the story of how Swedish vodka conquered the world. Expect iconic adverts, spectacular bottles and works by greats including Andy Warhol. Round things off in the bar, where you can book a tasting, drink a cocktail made by a robot or join a workshop where you spice your very own snaps.

The museum is open daily from 11.00 to 22.00 during summer. Guided tours are also held in English.

14.7 Play pétanque and sip pastis in Tanto

Summer evenings in Tantolunden offer plenty to do, but why not gather your friends or take your date for a game of pétanque? Hop aboard Musikflotten’s two-hour cruise around a lush summer Djurgården. The sightseeing trip, complete with a live troubadour, runs every day. 17.7. Experience Stockholm’s new Slussen terraces

Bars, buzzing atmosphere and great food – our favourite summer combo. This summer, no fewer than six high-profile restaurants have opened across the brand-new Slussen terraces, turning the area into one of the city’s hottest new places to eat and drink. Brasserie Astrid and Liv are our top picks. Hot tip: The potato churros at Liv are addictive.

18.7 Sweat the week away with a sauna ritual

Slakthusområdet, just south of Söder, has transformed from an industrial fringe into one of Stockholm’s most dynamic cultural districts. Start the evening at The Sacred Sauna with a guided sauna ritual. Over the course of an hour, intense aufguss heat, aromatherapy and breathing exercises are combined with refreshing cold plunges. You'll leave feeling re-energised and ready for a dinner or night out at one of the area's many restaurants and clubs.

19.7. Watch the football World Cup final outdoors

The Super Bowl is all well and good, but the single biggest sporting event on the planet is the men’s football World Cup final, which takes place every four years. At the time of writing, we have no idea how Sweden has fared, nor do we know which teams will meet in the final. But we do know that more than a billion people watched the 2022 final between France and Argentina. The final is best watched among a crowd, at a bar or on a big screen somewhere in Stockholm.

20.7 See The Odyssey in cinemas, the summer’s biggest film

Superstar director Christopher Nolan has made a habit of releasing his films in the middle of summer, and his adaptation of Homer’s epic The Odyssey is no exception. Matt Damon stars in what looks set to be the season’s biggest blockbuster. There’s a strong Swedish connection too, with Ludwig Göransson composing the score and Hoyte van Hoytema serving as cinematographer. Few films have ever felt quite so deserving of the word ‘epic’ before they’ve even reached the big screen.

21.7. Listen to country music at Debaser Nova

In the mood for American country and Americana? Acclaimed Texas artist Joshua Ray Walker is taking to the stage at Debaser. Expect character-driven storytelling and a rich tenor voice. Kick off the evening with a cocktail on the floating pontoon outside.

23.7 Watch the food truck elite battle it out at the Swedish Street Food Championships

Thursday is all about great food as one of Sweden’s biggest food and drink festivals rolls into the waterfront at Norra Hammarbyhamnen. Around 80 of the country’s best food trucks will be serving everything from Chilean empanadas to steaming bao buns. On top of that, the regional final of the Swedish Street Food Championships takes place on site.

Street Food Festival, Anna Lindhs Park, Norra Hammarbyhamnen. Open Thursday 16.00-22.00. Free entry to the festival area. Take the tram to Mårtensdal or the ferry to Lumabryggan. Running until July 25.

24.7. Culture and cocktails in the city’s most beautiful courtyard

Friday calls for a journey back in time in the heart of the city. Behind the grand entrance to Hallwyl Museum lies one of Stockholm’s most eccentric and best-preserved turn-of-the-century homes. Join a guided summer tour through its magnificent drawing rooms or catch the exhibition The Corset Controversy, which offers a fascinating insight into the history of fashion, women’s liberation and the female body. Round things off with a cocktail in the lively courtyard bar.

25.7. Step aboard the tall ship af Chapman

The three-masted tall ship af Chapman is one of Stockholm’s most photographed landmarks. After standing empty since the hostel closed, the historic vessel has recently reopened to the public. Step aboard for a coffee, a drink and stunning views across to Gamla Stan. Throughout July, the deck comes alive with weekend quizzes, morning yoga, local DJs and live jazz. Keep an eye on their Instagram, @afchapman, for the latest details.

26.7. Stroll around Hornstull Market, Hornstull

Every summer weekend, Hornstull Market spreads out along the waterfront with second-hand finds, vintage, crafts and street food stalls. One of Stockholm’s most laid-back Sunday activities – browse for bargains, grab something tasty and enjoy views over Lake Mälaren.

Free entry.

27.7 Concert with Orup, Gröna Lund

If this doesn’t scream summer, what does? It’s been 14 years since Thomas ‘Orup’ Eriksson last went on a summer tour, but this year it’s finally happening. Expect Magaluf vibes at Gröna Lund.

The Gröna Lund pass costs 440 SEK and gives you free entry to the park and all concerts all summer. Available via the Gröna Lund website.

28.7 Take a dip at one of Stockholm’s best swimming spots

This Tuesday, we're hoping for blue skies and perfect swimming weather. If that happens, there’s only one thing to do: pack your bag, hire a bike (if you don’t already have one) and pedal your way to a day of sun-warmed jetties and refreshing swims. Head to Fredhäll for deep dives in the evening sun, make for Tantolunden’s sandy beach if you're after a livelier atmosphere, or roll out your towel on the rocks at Långholmen. Pack a cool bag, pick up some picnic food and stay until the sun slips below the horizon.

29.7 Hire a kayak and paddle across Riddarfjärden

We’re sticking with the water theme, but swapping the towel for a paddle. You can hire a kayak from several spots around Stockholm, but once again Långholmen is our top pick. Glide beneath bridges, past leafy waterfronts and out onto the open waters of Riddarfjärden. When your arms start to tire, paddle across to Smedsuddsbadet on the opposite shore. Pull your kayak up onto the sandy beach, grab an ice cream and enjoy a well-earned swim before heading back.

Kayaks and SUP boards can be hired by the hour from Långholmen Kajak. The easiest way to book is via their website. Or do the route in reverse and hire from Lek Mer Kajak & SUP at Smedsudden on Kungsholmen instead.

30.7 International Night at Big Ben

Need a midweek laugh? Legendary basement club Big Ben on Södermalm hosts stand-up every night throughout the summer, and on Thursdays it’s all about International Night. That means the jokes are delivered entirely in English by a mix of local comedians and international guests. Travelling on a budget? Hot tip: Mondays are dedicated to free rookie nights.

Folkungagatan 97, Södermalm. Nearest metro station: Medborgarplatsen. It's best to book your ticket in advance.

31.7. Stockholm Pride – festival vibes across the city

Stockholm Pride fills the city with colour, music and joy at the end of July – and Friday evening is one of the highlights of the week. The Pride parade takes place on Saturday, but Friday brings concerts, club nights and a city that really knows how to celebrate. One of the most high-energy nights of the summer in Stockholm.
