While many art galleries and museums are closed due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, Galerie Perrotin – an art gallery with outposts around the world including Tokyo, Hong Kong, New York, Seoul and Paris – has turned its website into a treasure trove for art lovers. And it's free.

Watch films, artist interviews, studio and home visits, and listen to podcasts featuring the gallery's current and previously exhibited artists from the comfort of your couch. We love the virtual gallery visits in particular, which offers 360-degree tours of more than 60 exhibitions free of charge. These virtual-reality tours showcase Japanese artists such as Takashi Murakami, Madsaki and Aya Takano as well as other internationally renowned artists like Daniel Arsham, Barry McGee, Lee Bae, Pieter Vermeersch and many more.

There are three virtual exhibitions dedicated solely to Takashi Murakami, including art from previous solo shows in New York, Paris and Shanghai. Browse through Murakami's murals and installations, and admire walls covered in his iconic smiley flowers.

Madsaki also has two virtual exhibitions from previous shows in Paris and Hong Kong, featuring works inspired by Andy Warhol. Aya Takano's 3D showcase is from her 2019 show at Perrotin in New York, which presented eight oil paintings and more than 50 drawings.

These virtual visits are interactive and they offer you a number of ways to explore the art and exhibition space. You can 'walk through' the gallery using the 3D floor plan, or take a bird's eye view of the whole exhibition with the 'dollhouse' function. You can zoom in to get a closer look, as well as admire the art from every possible angle. If you usually feel like you don't get quite enough time to fully explore an art exhibition, the Galerie Perrotin online shows are for you.
