It’s so easy to pick at bad hotels and hotel chains – simply because there’s so much stuff that can go wrong. From lumpy mattresses and crummy breakfasts to poor hygiene standards, the list of stuff that can go wrong at hotels is vast.

And that’s exactly what took the spotlight last week, as Which revealed its 2023 ranking of hotel chains in the UK. Britannia took the title of ‘worst hotel chain’ for the eleventh (yep, eleventh) year in a row.

But what about the good hotel chains... don’t they deserve a bit of attention, too? And they most certainly do. Taking into account stuff like cleanliness, price, customer service, breakfast quality and more, Which also revealed the best hotel chains in the UK right now.

Top spot this year was taken by Hotel Indigo, which got an overall score of 77 percent and was deemed a ‘recommended provider’. Hotel Indigo runs 18 hotels across the UK, and Which described the chain as ‘stylish’ with ‘helpful staff, great breakfasts and city centre locations’. Sounds lovely, eh?

And Hotel Indigo wasn’t the only chain to get a ‘recommended provider’ tag. Hub by Premier Inn, which came second, and Premier Inn, which came third, also received high praise.

So, now you know not only which hotels to avoid, but the ones to actively choose, too! You can read Which’s full hotel chain ranking for 2023 here.
