Given the current ban on travel to Europe and overall social distancing measures, it looks like our vacations will have to be a bit different from what we've been used to until now.

Enter the Nevada Northern Railway's Star Train: a train ride featuring the dark rangers of Great Basin National Parks, actual park rangers with astronomical expertise. The gurus will guide the stargazing ride, pointing out interesting constellations, stars and planets across the park's sky, which is a gold tier International Dark Sky Park. The latter title simply means that the area is recognized as providing "distinguished and significant opportunities to experience dark nights."

The park has just announced its 2021 train rides dates. Fair warning: these sell out a year in advance, so make sure to grab a seat immediately if interested. You can sign up right here.

Passengers will board the train in Ely, Nevada, which is about 244 miles north of Las Vegas, and disembark once away from city lights. Yes, you'll get to use a telescope as well!

If you're too late to join the party, may we suggest embarking on a road trip instead? Here are some of the most wonderful routes throughout America. Whatever it is that you decide to do, happy vacationing!
