What happens when you look different from everyone around you? BE ALONE, the first solo exhibition by lek_lek, follows Lu and Al, two birds born with rare colour mutations that set them apart from their flocks. Through paintings birds and wings, the artist explores individuality, freedom and the search for somewhere to belong, as well as how rejection and isolation shape the way we see ourselves. The idea at its heart is simple: the differences that isolate us may also be the ones worth holding on to.
