Time Out says

For almost 50 years, Dusit Thani Hotel Bangkok, with its modernist architecture and a golden spire shooting up from its roof, was an iconic landmark on the corner of Silom and Rama IV. The legendary hotel recently made the decision to completely close down, razing and then rebuilding from the ground up instead of merely revamping its interiors.

The new Dusit Thani will soon be part of Dusit Central Park, a 440,000-square-meter mixed-use complex that the Dusit Thani Group is constructing with another long-running Thai conglomerate, retail magnate Central Pattana (owner of all Central stores and Centara hotels in Thailand, and some department stores in Europe).

The mega project is co-designed by Dutch architectural firm OMA and local architects A49, and will comprise three skyscrapers in colors representing auspicious metals in traditional Thai belief: gold, pink gold and silver. These three buildings will be home to the new 39-story Dusit Thani Hotel Bangkok, which will have 250 guestrooms, an observation deck, and interiors incorporating some of the Thai-influenced designs from the old building; a 69-floor residential building with 389 condominium units; and the Central Park Offices and Central Park shopping center.
