What is it? The essence of jazz literally spills out onto Thonglor 17, drawing you in through a small entrance lit by soft lights and seductive sounds. This is Blue Bird, a ‘blue nest’ of moody lighting and great music, made special by moody, dim lighting that encourages you to lean in close to see each other properly.
Why we love it: The whole place feels small, cozy and genuinely nest-like, which makes it ridiculously easy to strike up conversations with neighbouring tables or exchange glances with the musicians. It's more like listening to music at a mate's house, except the drink menu is every bit as serious and well crafted as the music playing live. There's none of that stuffy, reverential atmosphere that can sometimes make jazz venues feel a bit intimidating either. Everyone's just there to enjoy themselves and that vibe is absolutely infectious. Never far from the action, but equally never cramped or overwhelming.
Time Out tip: Despite its close-knit nature, you’ll never feel out of your depth making it a great choice for those new and curious to the scene.
Thonglor. Open Wed-Mon, 5pm-midnight, closed Tuesday
