French fashion brand Louis Vuitton, which started off as a high-end travel trunk maker, has never forgotten its root of being a companion to globetrotters. Since 1998, Louis Vuitton has introduced a series of guidebooks Louis Vuitton City Guide to recommend places to eat, drink, shop and stay in top cities around the world. This year, 2016, LV has added four new cities to its portfolio: Amsterdam, Lisbon, San Francisco and Taipei. Instead of featuring those over-the-top fancy venues, Louis Vuitton chooses to create a set of insider’s guides by inviting special guests, experts and those-in-the-know to contribute their tips to each city. This year, fado singer Caminho shared the Lisbon secrets while Amsterdam night mayor Milan Mirik wrote those in Amsterdam. Interior designer Ken Fulk was tasked to feature the best bits of San Francisco, and artist Michael Lin did it for Taipei. We haven't read through these new guides yet, but judging from its Bangkok guide launched earlier last year, they could possibly be reliable sources for the four towns.

A guide book is EUR30 in print, and EUR9.99 for an iPhone/iPad edition
