Babymetal is a Japanese kawaii metal band that blends sugary idol pop with mosh-pit deathcore groove. Originally a trio, the group released their eponymous debut album in 2014 and became one of the very few Japanese artists to enter the US Billboard 200 chart. Over the past years, Babymetal has garnered a sizable international fan base and has also opened for high-profile metal names like Metallica and Korn. In 2018, the band announced the departure of one of its members, Yuimetal, from the group. So, in 2019, the girls performed at Glastonbury Festival as a duo. They were the first Japanese band to play on one of the festival's main stages.
