The Thai general elections on Mar 17 and 24 may affect expats and tourists in one way. Election law prevents the sale of alcohol for 24 hours starting on the eve of the elections. That means you can’t purchase beer, wine, whiskey and all alcoholic beverages from any store around the country between 18:00 of Mar 16 and 18:00 of Mar 17, and between 18:00 of Mar 23 and 18:00 of Mar 24. The law could also lead to the temporary closures of bars and clubs throughout the mentioned hours. Luckily, the law does not stop you from drinking, i.e. plan ahead, mate.
