After a decade of embargo due to the fear of mad-cow disease, the American-imported bone-in beef has now been welcomed back into town, available on shelves at grocery stores and in restaurants. The US Embassy hosted the “US Beef is Back” reception in November at the residence of the United States Ambassador to Bangkok Glyn Davies to celebrate the relaunch. The auspicious event gathered over 200 executive chefs from hotels and restaurants throughout the country, along with individuals in food and drinks industry, and members of the press.

Participants witnessed the ambassador grill the gargantuan piece of ribeye and savored delicious cuts of American bone-in beef like US tomahawks, ribeyes and short-ribs as well as other US products.

New York Steakhouse at JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok (open daily 18:00-23:00. Make reservation at 0 2656 7700) has become the first local restaurant to offer American bone-in beef on its menu. Executive Chef Kevin B. Thomson offers three cuts—Grilled CAB Prime T-Bone (B2,800/22 oz), Prime Porterhouse (B4,900/32 oz) and Prime Rib Bone In (B5,400/26 oz), two side dishes served on the side.
