While 24-hour supermarkets and grocery stores have been feeding night owls even during the coronavirus pandemic, all stores are asked to stop operation from midnight to 5 am starting from tonight, as the latest measure to reduce Covid-19 infection in Bangkok.
Following the curfew banning people from leaving their premises from 11 pm – 5 am that has been imposed in nearby Nonthaburi, Bangkok Governor Asawin Kwanmuang has asked for the cooperation from all the 24-hour supermarkets, grocery stores and mom-and-pop stores to shut down for at least five hours for store cleaning and in order to discourage people to leave their premises.
In order to discourage social gathering, the governor also orders all public and private-owned parks to close from 2 to 30 April.
As of 1 April, there has been 1,771 reported cases of Covid-19 with 12 deaths.
