The Michelin Guide Thailand 2026 was officially unveiled today, bringing exciting news for Bangkok’s fine-dining scene as it saw a major restaurant promotion and the recognition of a new wave of culinary talent across the kingdom.
Contemporary German restaurant Sühring, helmed by twin chefs Thomas and Mathias Sühring, was promoted to Three Michelin Stars. This monumental achievement makes it only the second restaurant in Thailand, after Southern Thai establishment Sorn, to hold the guide's highest honour. Sühring had been a one-star restaurant in the guide’s inaugural 2018 edition, before holding two stars for seven consecutive years.
Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guides, noted that the guide reflects ‘exciting developments and innovations,’ fuelled by ‘incredible energy and creativity’ in Thailand’s culinary scene. He added that the increasing number of starred restaurants further cements Thailand’s position as an increasingly attractive culinary destination.
Two new two-star restaurants
This year’s edition saw two significant promotions in the Two Michelin Star category, bringing the total number of two-star restaurants to eight. The newly promoted restaurants, both elevated from one star, are Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie, a contemporary French restaurant known for the collaboration between Chef Anne-Sophie Pic and Japanese Chef Tamaki Kobayashi, and Inddee, a modern Indian restaurant offering a 10-course set menu that explores the diverse flavours of every region of India.
Seven new one-star winners
The One Michelin Star category welcomed seven new additions, with three restaurants entering the guide for the first time, and four promoted from the Michelin Selected category.
The new entries are: Bo.lan, a Thai restaurant combining traditional recipes with an environmentally conscious approach; Cannubi by Umberto Bombana, an Italian restaurant known for its exquisite tasting menus that harmoniously blend classic and modern techniques; and At Cha, a 'no borders' concept restaurant offering tasting menus that combine European cooking techniques with local, seasonal Thai ingredients.
The promoted restaurants are: Gaggan, offering over 20 courses of creative cuisine accompanied by an immersive light and music show; Juksunchae, a contemporary Korean omakase restaurant that reinterprets traditional Korean cuisine; Nusara, a Thai restaurant from Chef ‘Ton’ Thitit Tassanakajorn, offering refined Thai cuisine with stunning views of Wat Pho; and Sushi Saito, serving meticulously crafted Edo-style sushi.
David Thompson receives new Mentor Chef Award
The 2026 guide introduced the prestigious MICHELIN Guide Mentor Chef Award in Thailand for the first time. The inaugural recipient is David Thompson, chef and owner of Aksorn, who was recognised for his dedication to preserving, sharing and elevating Thai cuisine throughout his career and mentoring the next generation of chefs.
Other special awards include the Michelin Guide Young Chef Award, which went to Chef ‘Mond’ Suwijak Kanghae of Royd (Michelin Selected), and the Michelin Guide Opening of the Year Award, which was given to Wilfrid Hocquet, chef and owner of Margo (Michelin Selected), a French restaurant noted for its classic charm and professionalism. The Michelin Guide Service Award was won by Arsen Brahaj, manager of Avlis (One Michelin Star, Phang Nga), recognised for providing an exceptional dining experience.
Goat earns a Green Star
The commitment to sustainability continues to grow, with Goat, a contemporary Thai restaurant, being awarded a Michelin Green Star. This accolade recognises its environmentally conscious cooking, commitment to sourcing from local farmers, use of its own rooftop garden, and extensive efforts in waste reduction and resource efficiency, such as composting and prioritising the reprocessing of used oil.
Goat joins four other restaurants – Pru, Haoma, Champa, and Baan Thepa – that retained their Green Star status, bringing the total in Thailand to five.
The Michelin Guide Thailand 2026 features a grand total of 468 selected restaurants, including two Three Michelin Star restaurants, eight Two Michelin Star restaurants, 33 One Michelin Star restaurants, 137 Bib Gourmand establishments (13 new) and 288 Michelin Selected restaurants (50 new).
