The results are in! Nine Bangkok fine dining venues make 2018’s cut of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants.

The award ceremony of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, the continent’s affiliate of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants sponsored by San Pellegrino and Acqua Pana, was held tonight (27 March) at Wynn Palace hotel in Macao. Voted by more than 318 chefs and “food experts”, Gaggan makes a history once again by being named the best restaurant in Asia for four consecutive years. The progressive eatery of celebrity chef Gaggan Anand, who also received two Michelin stars from Bangkok’s very first Michelin guide this year, has been praised for progressive treatment to Indian flavor by fusing it with globe-spanning influences.

Bangkok’s highest new entry from last year, modern German eatery Sühring, is named Asia’s No. 4. Under the helm of Thomas and Mathius Sühring, the restaurant manages to break the culinary stereotypes by fusing regional German dishes with contemporary techniques.

While the fine-dining Thai restaurant Nahm founded by David Thompson falls five spots and is ranked at no. 10, chef Thitid Tassanakajohn’s Le Du sees the impressive climb, garnering the 14th spot. The French-sounding restaurant elevates humble traditional Thai fare with innovative approach and Western-style presentation.

Authentic Thai restaurant Paste makes a new comer to this year’s list and is placed at no. 31 . The restaurant's chef Bongkoch Satongun also received Elit Vodka Best Female chef 2018 for her dedication and strong commitment to authentic Thai flavors.

Also joining the list are Eat Me, Bo.lan, Issaya Siamese Club and The Dining Room at The House on Sathorn which are placed at no. 33, 37, 39 and 43 respectively.

Sadly, Bangkok outpost of the swanky L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon doesn’t make the cut this year.
