Discover original works and new paintings by the legendary artist August 4-September 4

Before ‘City Pop’ became a music genre, it was art. The colour of the sky on a summer afternoon, the calm turquoise waters, the long shadows of palm trees stretching across concrete. The dream of a holiday that never had to end.
Hiroshi Nagai transformed these feelings of optimism, romance and escape into artwork that defined the visual identity of that ’80s City Pop era. His iconic illustrations graced album covers and helped shape Japan’s pop culture landscape for decades.
This August, Tokyo’s Hiroshi Nagai once again arrives in Bangkok with his new exhibition, Summer Dreaming, and his first-ever solo exhibition in Thailand, held at River City Bangkok.
Inside the exhibition, visitors can explore more than 30 rare original works spanning Hiroshi Nagai’s career, from his early 1980s pieces to more recent creations, and see up close the brushstrokes, colours and textures that prints can never fully capture. The exhibition also features four new works created exclusively for Thailand – offering a glimpse of Bangkok through the eyes of an artist who turns sunlight into timeless memories.
Even if you don’t recognise the name Hiroshi Nagai, you may already know the feelings his art evokes, even knowing them by sight, if not by name. As he dreams of summer, this exhibition reveals how nostalgia can truly be painted into images.
