Taweesilp Wisanuyothin, spokesperson of Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, announced today (12 June) at daily coronavirus briefing that the nighttime curfew currently run from 23:00-3:00 will be lifted this Monday (15 June).

The lift of curfew comes as the country enters the fourth phase of lockdown easing. As of today, Thailand hasn’t reported local transmission of COVID-19 for more than 2 weeks. Public health officials reported four cases today, all of which are repatriated Thais returning from India.

The fourth phase of lockdown easing that will be effective on 15 June will allow restaurants to serve alcohol for dine-in patrons, but still prohibits bars, nightclubs and karaoke joints from accepting customers. Other venues that have been given the green light to resume operations are convention centers, museums and science centers, Japanese-style bathhouses, theme parks and game arcades.

The overnight curfew was implemented since April by Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration to enforce Thais to stay at home and reduce social gathering and parties that could be the cause of COVID-19 infection.
