Sitting across the lavishly-decorated lobby of Oriental Residence on Bangkok’s most swanky street Wireless Road, Café Claire has made a return with a new look and food concept.

The French bistro now leans heavy toward classic Parisian feel with neo-classic-inspired décor popular in eateries in the French capital. The monotonous décor is offset by charming mint green walls and soft orangey lightings bringing the food to the spotlight. Pick the seats of leathered couch next to the gigantic glass window to get the feel of Parisian dining experience.

Café Claire has taken a traditional approach on the menu by offering classic French dishes with some help from finest locally-sourced ingredients courtesy of French chef Eric Weidmann, a Southern French cuisine specialist and a recent winner of the Iron Chef Thailand. Start off with the Bohol Sea tuna tartare with refreshing note from lemon zest, sun-dried tomatoes, basil oil and avocado (B370); or pan-seared foie gras with hints of citrus from raspberries purée (B400). Continue your journey with hearty French classics such as the slow-cooked Thai-Charolais beef cheek cooked in red wine, Burgundy-styled, and served with mashed potatoes (B880), or try chef Eric’s personal favorite Norwegian salmon doused in creamy Dieppoise-styled sauce with mussels, prawns and braised leeks (B750).

Café Claire also takes traditional French desserts very seriously. Stay true to its name, Baba au Rhum- Rum baba (sweet rum cake) with Chantilly vanilla cream (B290) gives you a mouthgasm with a burst of rum. Another outstanding dish is Paris-Brest with praline flavored cream (B290), suitable for non sweet-tooths.

Drop by for farm-to-table lunch concept (11:30-14:30) where you can enjoy Cafe Claire’s garden fresh salad bar. Here, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat organic veggies, delicious antipasti, cold cuts, Chiang Mai-produced cheese and assorted desserts only for B500 per person. You could also go full-on with a set lunch (B850) that comes with one main dish where you choose from ever-changing two daily specials, and, of course, unlimited offerings from the salad bar, starter and dessert bar.
