The much-delayed MRT Blue Line extension will finally open to the public on Mother’s Day (12 August). The service, which will run from Hua Lumpong to Tha Phra, will start test-drive operations from 29 July, offering free rides to passengers. The line includes a few more stations to Lak Song, which will open up by the end of September this year.

Also ready for test drive on 11 August is the BTS Green Line extension service from Mochit station, which crosses one of Bangkok’s most congested intersections to Ha Yaek Lad Phrao station. (This means no more hectic transfers from the BTS to the MRT for your shopping sprees at Central Ladprao.) The remaining route from Ha Yaek Lad Phrao station to Khu Khot in Pathum Thani will be ready for use by the end of 2020.
