Would you party next to real buddhist urns at ‘Viharn 2026’?

From a crematorium to a red-lit Bangkok lab, Viharn pairs cinematic art with BPM rhythms tuned to your breath at 1981 Soul & Sold on October 31

Last year, Viharn put a live band inside a crematorium in Sam Chuk, a quiet Suphan Buri district better known for its century-old riverside market. It caused a stir, and plenty of us came away with awkward questions about ritual, belief and what actually happens when we die.

For 2026, the experimental art and music event moves to the city. Its new home is the fourth floor of 1981 Soul & Sold, which used to be The Mall Ramkhamhaeng and reopened in July as a vintage and thrift hub. Religious ceremony takes a back seat this time. The theme is Last Breath & Anatomy, a study of the body and its final exhale, staged in a dim, red-lit lab. The idea is simple enough. Each set’s BPM steers your breathing, which in turn shapes how you take in your surroundings.

The talking point is the design by Pantang Artwork, whose team works with real Buddhist urns holding cremated remains. Yes, actual ashes. Visuals that react to the sound waves of each performance sit alongside them, so the room shifts from one act to the next.

You don’t have to wait for the main night, either. Daeng Raem Kham (Red at Dusk), an exhibition running for nine days and nine nights, takes over the first-floor Camp Ground October 26-November 3. Then on October 31 – a Saturday and, fittingly, Halloween – the doors upstairs open.

Seven stages share a lineup of Juna Mae, Faustus, Makara, Not Where But When feat. Ann Shadow Colonies, Dsl33p feat. Wan Pree, Pradit Seangkrai, 6V6T6R and special guest Ong TheLayers.

The venue holds about 500, so booking ahead saves you ฿300 and the risk of a wasted trip. Grab dinner at the ground-floor food hall, then ride the escalators past vintage racks and tattoo studios on the way up.

Viharn 2026: Last Breath & Anatomy takes place on Sat Oct 31 at 1981 Soul & Sold, 49 Ramkhamhaeng Rd (between Soi 15 and Soi 17). Daeng Raem Kham runs Oct 26-Nov 3. Advance tickets cost B590 and are available here. Door tickets cost B890.
