The wait is now over: famed Nordic-Thai fine-dining eatery Front Room at the luxurious Waldorf Astoria Bangkok has finally introduced the à la carte menu filled with everyone's favorite treats that are meant to be shared. Bonus: Prices start from as low as B400 per dish!
After a decade working at a number of Michelin-starred restaurants in European countries, Rungthiwa "Fae" Chummongkol returned to the motherland to introduce neo-Nordic cuisine to Bangkokians in 2018, helming the kitchen at Front Room as chef de cuisine. Inspired by the interconnected elements of neo-Nordic and Thai cuisines, Chef Fae decided to combine her specialty with the use of premium seasonal Thai ingredients, resulting in a creative twist that marries the best of both worlds.
“Actually, I schedule a change of the tasting menu every four months to follow the best produce of the seasons. However, there is high demand from our guests for some of their favorite dishes available in each tasting menu, so I thought it would be a good idea that I combine some of the restaurant’s most beloved dishes that are great for sharing in an à la carte menu,” says Chef Fae.
Chef Fae and her team's creations you can now enjoy as à la carte treats include “Mælk”, caramelized milk skin, lemongrass smoked scallop with chili-herb emulsion; “Atlantic Laks”, salmon, carrot, bitter oranges and rice mayo; “Blue of the Sea”, Front Room’s style of the famous crab curry; “Raised in Korat”, a beef tartar with pickled papaya and Northern Thai’s local spices; “Born in Chiang Rai, Braised in Bangkok”, Pork Rib, Celery Root, Herbed Soy Jus and “King of beef”, dry-aged local wagyu striploin served with morel and fumet, with prices range from as low as B400 to B1,500. Each dish comes in the sizable portion for two people to share, and all diners will receive a complimentary set of amuse bouche prior to their meal.
Front Room is open from Monday to Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (last order at 9:30 p.m.). For reservations, please contact +66 (0) 2 846 8888 or email firstname.lastname@example.orgShare the story
