Xu Hongfei, a famous Chinese sculptor, brings his globally acclaimed series of “Chubby Women” statues to ICONSIAM

Hailing from Guangzhou, Guangdong province, Xu Hongfei is at the forefront of today’s Chinese sculptors. His series of “Chubby Women” catapulted him to international fame as the works have embraced the beauty of large-size bodies and empowered many plus-size ladies around the globe oppressed by the deep-rooted beauty standard. With the statues of different chubby women full of humour and free spirit, the artist wants to encourage people of any backgrounds to live their lives with joy, confidence and positive energies.

These captivating and inspiring masterpieces have been showcased and garnered constant praises across the world for over a decade, including the sculptor’s motherland, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Turkey, Italy, France, Germany, UK, U.S.A. and Cuba. For the rest of this year, to celebrate its 5th anniversary and underline its status as a global destination, ICONSIAM is hosting the 54th stop of Xu Hongfei’s sculpture world tour exhibition in Thailand.

Themed as “Love in Siam” and peppered throughout the River Park and Napalai Terrace on 7th floor of the shopping centre, these fat female figures represent a tapestry of Chinese and Thai culture, way of life and national characters. Expect to smile your way with different joyful plump ladies in different traditional Thai costumes and a trio of cute little girls with a big banana leaf having a fun time together. The exhibits not only are worthy for your Instagram and getting your art fix but also give both Thai locals and foreign visitors an opportunity to connect with unique Chinese artistry and culture.

Get your camera ready and enjoy “Xu Hongfei Sculpture World Tour Exhibition – Thailand: Love in Siam” now until 12 October at ICONSIAM’s River Park and the display will be moved to Napalai Terrace on 7th floor, starting from 13 October and continuing through 20 December.
