Time Out says

What is it? A Japanese gelateria founded by Shintaro Nakajima in Chiba Prefecture and later brought to Bangkok, where it has become a firm dessert favourite. Its signature scoops are oval rather than round.

Why we love it: The counter holds 18 rotating flavours, so the line-up changes between visits. Classics such as matcha and yogurt sit beside sakura mochi, tomato milk, Phuket pineapple and Chumphon chocolate, with plenty of produce sourced from around Thailand. Waffle cones come in maple or chocolate, and a double scoop in one costs B120. Those oval scoops sit high on the cone, showing off the colours before you take the first bite.

Time Out tip: Expect queues at busy branches such as Emsphere and Siam Paragon on weekend afternoons and from around 7pm to 9pm.

Soi Sukhumvit 46. Open Tuesday-Sunday, 12pm-10pm. Call 092 464 1644.
