Alpine Golf & Sports Club

What is it?: On the northeast outskirts of Bangkok, Alpine Golf & Sports Club is one of Thailand’s most challenging golf courses. This Ron M. Garl-designed 18-hole championship course is a private, members-only club but it may be possible to play as a guest if you book through a local golf tour operator. It offers an elite golfing experience with immaculate course conditions and a recently upgraded clubhouse that exudes the atmosphere of a premium golfing destination. The facilities are top-tier, including spacious locker rooms, a well-stocked pro shop and excellent dining options with both Thai and international menus.

Why we love it: Alpine’s 18-hole championship course was once flat paddy fields reshaped 30 years ago into a rolling, undulating landscape, visually stunning and technically demanding; it requires precision, strategy and adaptability from golfers of all levels. The fairways are lush and meticulously maintained, while the greens are pro-tournament fast and true, a test for even the most confident of putters. The rough is demanding, making recovery shots a real challenge. Elevation changes – rare for courses in the Bangkok area – add an extra layer of complexity, particularly on approach shots. Practice facilities are excellent, featuring a driving range, short game area and putting greens that mirror the speed and condition of the course. 

Signature hole: The standout is the par-5 7th hole, which tempts long hitters to go for the green in two but punishes misjudged shots with water hazards and tricky bunkers. 

Time Out tip: The caddies here are exceptional with many having more than 10 years of service, and capable of offering considered advice on club selection, green reading and course strategy. Ask your tour operator to pre-book one of the top caddies – you will pay a little extra, but the expertise on offer could save you more than a couple of shots.
