Visit the hidden beach of Khao Tao and climb up its hill for panoramic views

Less than 15 minutes from Hua Hin city center, Khao Tao is a fisherman neighborhood where you can enjoy a hidden quiet beach. Once you arrive, pay homage to the Buddha kimage at Tham Khao Tao temple at the foot of the hill and snap a picture with a giant golden tortoise statue which is believed to bring luck and prosperity. You can also climb up, do a nature walking and take a look at the beautiful panoramic views at the top of the hill.

Wildlife viewing, jungle camping and discovering a gold-gilded Thai pavilion hidden in a massive cave at Sam Roi Yod National Park

Declared Thailand’s first coastal national park in 1966, the 100-sq-km Sam Roi Yod National Park is now home to more than 350 species of bird, marine life, and wild animal—ideal for adventurous travelers who are fond of wildlife watching in the tropical. The conserved forest also provides a number activities, including climbing up the hill to watch the sunrise, touring the lush mangrove, riding the boat in the picturesque lotus-loaded pond, and camping on the beach.

The crown jewel of the park is, perhaps, Phraya Nakhon Cave, a remote natural cave located within Laem Sala beach area. Getting there isn’t easy: You have to hire a boat from Laem Sala beach and from the pier you still need to walk up for half a kilometer to reach the entrance of the cave. There, you’ll discover you effort is well paid off. Glowing before before you is a massive cave where Khuha Kharuehat Pavilion, built in 1890 to welcome King Rama V, shines underneath the ray of sunlight penetrating through a natural hole onto exactly where the gold-gilded structure is, creating an awe-inspiring scene.
