Erica Hagler, aka Boston's Blind Fox Art, has an eye for the best places to see and be seen in Boston.

It’s hard to go out in Boston without inevitably coming across some of Blind Fox Art’s creations. Hub-dwellers can find her bright and bold work in some of the hippest bars, restaurants and businesses throughout Boston and beyond—from the graffiti-adorned classic sculptures featured throughout Seaport newcomer Coquette, to a modern koi pond mural at Medford’s Yoki, to a larger-than-life Dolly Parton portrait made entirely out of guitar picks at Six String Grill & Stage in Foxboro. She even had custom, pop-art surfboard installations set up in Time Out Market Boston this past summer.

But when the local artist puts down her brush, where exactly does she go to paint the town red? We’ve asked, and now she’s sharing.

“When thinking of venues I would like to go with my friends, they have to check a few different boxes,” she tells  Time Out Boston. “Food is at the top of the list, and atmosphere is a very close second.”

See which spots tick both of those boxes for Blind Fox Art and check out her five favorite places to go out in Boston below:

Mariel“If you’re in the mood for atmosphere and delicious food, then Mariel is the place for you. This restaurant group never skips the small details. The second you step into Mariel, you feel like you’re transported right out of Boston and into a little piece of Cuba. The food is a culinary adventure, and the cocktails are a work of art on their own. If you get a chance to go to the nightclub hidden below the restaurant, the “Underground,” do it! The Cuban-inspired street art nightclub seems to be where all the beautiful people of the city congregate and the music will make you lose track of time.”

Citrus & Salt“Not only is this a gorgeous restaurant, but the kitchen and the bar seem to be in a constant competition for who is most creative. This Mexican, Day of the Dead-themed restaurant has some of the most colorful cocktails and fun desserts I’ve seen. Owned by celebrity chef Jason Santos, you know you’re in for a treat as soon as you glance through the menu. My favorite desserts are the churros and the Dole Whip.”

Six West“The rooftop bar at the Cambria Hotel in South Boston has a killer cocktail program and an amazing panoramic view of Downtown Boston. It’s absolutely the place to catch a sunset. The cocktails are so imaginative and fun; I once ordered a cocktail that came with a fake mustache. I'm sure you can guess how fun that is after a few.”

Revolution Axe Throwing“If you’re looking for something to do that's a little out of the box, especially for a date night, you should absolutely check out Revolution Axe Throwing. It's a great way to break the ice and have a few laughs, plus, who doesn’t want to drink beer and throw axes?”

SPIN“Alright, I might be a little biased here because I did the art in this venue, but SPIN is hands down one of my favorite places. The one in Boston just opened this month, but I used to go to the one in New York all the time. It's a great place to take a date, friends or family. They have a full bar and great food, and it's just downright fun.”
