Sydney is giving you countless reasons to get outside this winter with a wonderland of events, headlined by none other than the highly anticipated FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. Our city will be buzzing with energy and activity for the largest event on the women’s sporting calendar worldwide with big-screen live streams of each game and free concerts by top Aussie talents at the FIFA Fan Festival.

Whether you were lucky enough to get tickets to one of the live games or just want to be part of the buzz, we’ve got the perfect 48-hour itinerary for you.

Day one

  • Shopping
  • Markets

Live like the locals with a visit to the Carriageworks Farmers Markets, hosted every Saturday from 8am to 1pm. These weekly markets are a Sydney institution, bringing together the freshest seasonal produce from the top growers and producers around NSW. Whether you’re craving an artisan coffee from Single O, a piping hot beef brisket pie from A.P. Bakery, or a mind-blowingly good salted caramel and chocolate tart from Flour and Stone, there’s something for all tastes. Cap off your market adventure by grabbing quirky condiments, small-batch spirits or gourmet dog treats to take home.

  • Things to do
  • Ice skating
  • Alexandria

There's icy fun in Alexandria for the whole family to practise their ice-skating twirls, double axels and graceful tumbles. Alongside traditional ice skating facilities, Ice Zoo offers skating classes that'll help thaw out any icy beginner away from the wall. When you’re not shredding the ice, sip warming brews – and the boozy kind – at the licensed café.

  • Music
  • Newtown

End night one on a high by booking tickets for a show at the Inner West’s home of live music, theatre and comedy. This 1,600-seat Art Deco landmark hosts a wide range of shows spanning everything from rowdy band gigs to big dance parties and stand-up comedy revues. Spill onto Enmore Road for dinner and a drink after.

Day two

  • Things to do
  • Centennial Park

A morning bike ride in Centennial Park reveals Sydneysiders at their leisurely best. Join the morning masses for a breezy ride along the shared and dedicated cycleways. Don't let not having a bike stop. There are solo, tandem, and two-or four-seat pedal cars available to rent from Centennial Park Cycles. Post-ride, find a secluded spot on the vast lawns to sit back, relax and soak up the sun (yes, Sydney is still sunny in winter).

  • Things to do
  • Moore Park

Rev your engines for some mid-morning action on this 410-metre electric, indoor Hyper Karting track. This place is pretty much a playground for speed demons and people who want to bring their Mario Kart dreams to life. Along with high-speed fun, Hyper Karting offers arcade games (including motorbike and car racing with realistic vibrating movement) and virtual reality experiences where you can battle it out as a team to beat zombies, compete in archery, make hamburgers and more.
